Technology Inspired Mandalas Made From Electronic Components
Probably everyone knows what is mandala and how it looks like. For those who don’t know, mandala is a spiritual and ritual symbol in Hinduism and Buddhism, representing the Universe. The basic form of most mandalas is a square with four gates containing a circle with a center point. Probably most of you have seen Buddhist monks creating large scale detailed mandalas using only coloured grains of sand.
However, today, in the age of contemporary art, artists are always trying to find other approaches to create distinguishable mandalas in a different way. I have seen mandalas made of flowers, plastics, rubbish and a lot of more materials, nevertheless today was the first time I saw mandalas made from soldered electronic components. What can I say, I just loved them. Maybe it’s because I love minimalism or maybe electronic components just brought me nostalgia of old days when computers were big and clumsy and the only source of music was radio or old fashioned cassettes. It feels like these mandalas perfectly combine the beauty of today’s minimalism and ponderosity of old days hereby creating the unprecedented charm which is hard to resist.
