Surreal Photo Manipulations of Frozen Venice
Have you ever been in Venice? For those who haven’t or even never heard about it, Venice is a city in northeastern Italy sited on a group of 118 small islands separated by canals and linked by bridges. Instead of cars and motorcycles, locals use boats and canoes as the main vehicle to move around the island. You would ask, what about winter? Does Venice people tend to use ice skates during a cold season? Actually, no. Venice lagoon freezing is an extremely rare phenomenon occurring fair-to-middling once in 20 years.
Therefore I’m very happy that we have a vast of great artists such as Robert Jahns, who enriches our monotonous daily routine with a droplet of fantasy. Robert Jahns is a 26-year-old art director from Hamburg, Germany, who decided to create a series of photo manipulations portraying Venice with a completely frozen canals. The result is magical and unbelievable real. These photo manipulations look so real that last year one of them even gone viral on Twitter where thousands of people believed that Venice actually got frozen.
