Spectacular City Built Only of Ice and Snow in Chinese Festival
Whether you enjoy a sunny and warm climate, are used to huge endless snowbanks or experience all four seasons at their sharpest, you will definitely be stunned by the enormous unbelievable sculptures, buildings and other structures made only of snow and ice in Harbin Snow & Ice Festival 2014. The guys are working hard out there – building a snowman is not even a comparison to the artworks done out here.
Over 10,000 workers and artists were employed. Up to 180,000 square meters of ice and 150,000 square meters of snow were used to build the entire “city” of frost in Harbin. Gigantic sculptures, colossal buildings, thousands of lights and many hours of careful constructing – all this to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the festival. Enjoy the unimaginable.
Everything starts like this. Workers stab iron pikes into Songhua River and produces ice cubes. Each “cube” weighs about 250 kg
And the icy part of the Festival!
