Classical Statues Dressed as Jaunty Hipsters
Leo Caillard’s project Hipster in Stone is what combines past and present in a very cheeky way. French photographer dressed up classical marble sculptures to promote Traid, the UK charity clothes store. Well it’s imposible to overlook these ancient Rome fashion changes. It’s a really funny and unique idea as of designing. By the way, they look truly trendy this way!
Time for judging. Clever and funny or insolent and cheap? At first glance, it appears to be an innocent combination of humour and design, at second – an advertising trick, and when you look at it for the third time, it may even seem to be a disdain of classic antique art. That’s the most logical thinking – we must esteem antiquity, and learn from it. However, it’s not a reason to be totally tumbled into the past. We are not floundering in the same position, we are changing all the time and we change everything around us. This is the way world keeps turning around. But after all, don’t forget to respect the bygone, which taught you everything that you know.
